A Historical Perspective on Today’s Tea Parties

By David Barton from wallbuilders.com

America’s first Tea Party in 1773 was not an act of wanton lawlessness but rather a deliberate protest against heavy-handed government and excessive taxation. Its leaders took great care to ensure that nothing but tea was thrown overboard – no other items were damaged. The “Indians” even swept the decks of the ships before they left.

Tea Parties occurred not only in Boston but also in numerous other locales. And those who participated were just ordinary citizens expressing their frustration over a government that had refused to listen to them for almost a decade. Their reasonable requests had fallen on deaf ears. Of course, the out-of-touch British claimed that the Tea Parties were lawless and violent, but such was not the case. [Read more →]

A Suggested Survival List

By Chuck Baldwin

This column was initially released last June. Without a doubt, this has been one of my most requested columns. So, in response to the large number of readers who have asked me to re-release this column, I do so today. And in doing so, I have added some new material to the original column.

One does not have to be a prophet to know that we are on the precipice of some potentially catastrophic–or at the very least, challenging–days. In fact, most of us are already in challenging days, and some are already enduring catastrophic events. That is, if one would call being out of work, losing one’s home, facing life-threatening medical conditions without any prospect of medical insurance, several families being forced to live in one house due to homes being foreclosed, etc., catastrophic. Speaking of the House

By Joshua Finn

Since Ben Tillman and the end of Reconstruction in SC, our government in this state has represented a truly unique brand of power, an unfortunate situation for the citizens. I’ve lived my entire life in South Carolina, and until recently had little understanding of how much differently from other states South Carolina is governed. Unfortunately, we have grown so desensitized to the critical jabs from the rest of America that we no longer recognize them as symptoms of a very sinister problem. This year I have learned about this problem in some detail, and I hope that by the time you’ve finished reading this little tale of woe you’ll understand it a little better.

If I asked you who the most powerful official is in South Carolina, you would probably answer “The governor, of course—Mark Sanford.”  However, you would be wrong, and so would I have been a year ago. I knew the legislature here held a powerful sway, but when Ashley Landess of SC Policy Council told me how few of their votes are recorded, I was shocked. Even after the House passed rules “patterned” after those of Rep. Haley’s roll call voting bill, they have managed to keep 75% of their total votes off the record. The stats are even worse in the Senate, allowing Sen. Sheheen to claim that he voted for an immigration bill which was passed by voice vote and thus recorded as unanimous, regardless of any actual dissent. [Read more →]

Dump Dick Armey from tea party

By Joseph Farah with wnd.com

The danger to the tea-party movement has always been that Washington insiders would attempt to hijack it for their own purposes and political agenda.

One man who has clearly attempted to do that is former House majority leader Dick Armey with his well-funded organization FreedomWorks.

Armey is at the forefront of an insidious plot to “rein in” the tea-party movement, to constrain it to exclusively economic grievances defined in ludicrously narrow terms. [Read more →]

United Nations Takeover?

By Jim Kinney of inspireandignite.com

Did you see the recent headline, “UN Looks to Take Charge of the World’s Agenda.”?

At a recent closed door retreat in a posh Austrian getaway, top UN officials met to
discuss how to advance their global agenda. The papers presented for discussion, are
indicative of the inflated value these bureaucrats give themselves and their agenda
and point out how dangerous their ambitions are. Titles are my paraphrase of the
content of the papers:
Re-ignite the global warming scare
Make global redistribution of wealth a top priority
Expand UN peace keeping (read military) forces around the globe
Eliminate National borders and promote open immigration
Attack national sovereignty and promote the global community
Establish a global currency standard

Open borders, surrender of national sovereignty, support of global warming hoax,
redistribution of wealth—The UN agenda could have been written by this current
administration.
