DeMint demand: GOP hopefuls must hold line on budget
It’s possible, at least theoretically, to win the 2012 Republican presidential nomination without the support of South Carolina Sen. Jim DeMint. But nobody wants to risk it.
DeMint has emerged as a key power broker in the 2012 Republican contest. His clout extends far beyond his home state; through some carefully planned visits, he has now become a player in Iowa and New Hampshire. But it is in South Carolina, home of the first-in-the-South primary, that DeMint rules the political roost. [Read more →]

Raise your hand if you want this school choice bill discussed in Part 1 passed in SC.

School Choice part 1
From the Spartanburg TEA Party
The Cato Institute recently declared that “If they gave out awards for good policy design, the folks in South Carolina would be top contenders for the gold.” REALLY? SC being praised for something in the education field! What is it?
It is the school choice bill currently under consideration in the SC Legislature.
There are already a few school choice programs around the country that move in this direction, but a bill under consideration in South Carolina would do a better job than any of them. First, it offers tax cuts to parents who personally shoulder the cost of their own kids’ education, and those cuts are more meaningful in size than the ones currently offered in Illinois and Iowa. As Milton Friedman (and Pliny the Younger) rightly said: people are most careful spending their own money on their own families. Second, it extends its benefits to homeschoolers, which few other choice programs do. Third, it provides tuition assistance to low-income families through nonprofit scholarship organizations (SGOs) that are funded by private tax-creditable donations—better than any other system of third-party education aid. Implications of the reapeal of “Don’t ask, don’t tell”
By Captain Jim Kinney USN, inspireandignite.com
I approach this discussion with a heavy heart. What Congress has wrought today will have long lasting implications that will impact our nation for generations to come.
There is more to be said than you will take the time to read right now, so I will give an overview of my concerns and follow up with more details in the coming days. Words cannot describe the depth of the betrayal of our service men and women this legislation represents. And the greatest betrayal is that of Admiral Mullen, Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff and Secretary of Defense Robert Gates. Their politically correct misrepresentation of the results of the year long DOD survey of uniformed service members dishonors the very men and women they purport to represent. By their dishonest and misleading public statements concerning the survey results, they provided cover for enough political correct Congressional legislators to ensure the passage of this bill. John Boehner’s “GobGop” Plan to Sell Out the Tea Party in 2013. It Will Begin in January 2011.
By Gary North of garynorth.com
First, you must understand that Boehner is a GobGop: a Good Old Boy of the Grand Old Party. The GobGops’ goal is to keep the present system funded by the Bigs: Big Business, Big Pharma, Big Oil, and Big Banking. If you do not understand this, then you are as naive as a Democrat who thinks Obama speaks for The Common Man.
Boehner shilled for Hank Paulson and Goldman Sachs by begging the Republicans to vote for the $750+ billion Big Bank Bailout in 2008. Watch his emotional performance here. “We just have to do it!” No, they didn’t. Ron Paul told it straight. He is no GobGop.
Boehner is going to do it again. He has already told us what he intends to do. [Read more →]
