The SCGOP’s Moral Failure
By Joshua Finn, Clemson University engineering student
What, you thought that the GOP represented your values and standards? Not in South Carolina.
As we stand now long overdue for a high level disciplinary action on State Sen. Jake Knotts for his racism and bigotry, the Republican Party wants us to exercise church-like conduct and move on. As such, perhaps the only thing more disturbing than the SCGOP’s complete refusal to discipline Sen. Knotts during their executive committee meeting is the fact that they went the route of twisting God’s Word in order to do so.
York County Executive Committeeman Glenn McCall gave us a unity speech quoting from the Bible and asking that we “put away malice and strife,” using his skin color in an attempt to persuade the party to his side. Karen Floyd backed him up with similar comments, and no one took any action to address Knotts’ unapologetic misbehavior.
What can we do? First, we need to notify our county GOP leadership. Second, we can let Karen Floyd know of our dissatisfaction over her establishment pandering. Lastly, perhaps it is time for some of us to seek positions within the GOP so that we can have trustworthy leadership who are concerned with promoting righteousness rather than enjoying the benefits of power.

Just how much change do we need?
From Randy Simpson, Seneca TEA Party Organizer
The symbolism in the illustrations below is thought provoking, and I believe it to be accurate. Please read all the way to the bottom of the email. Consider the quotations at the end. I ask you this…if this is the greatest country in the history of the world, why do some want a complete makeover? Duh!
A few things I have learned as a businessman:

What are Sarah Palin’s True Colors?
The following op-ed was written by Ron Maxwell, who directed the movies “Gettysburg”, “Gods and Generals”, and many other films. The Anderson TEA Party does not necessarily endorse this opinion. Do you agree with Mr. Maxwell?
As some of you may know, I’ve never been a fan of Sarah Palin. I won’t rehash the many reasons here. I wonder, however, how so many conservatives continue to think she’s a positive force. In the last few weeks she has endorsed both John McCain and Carly Fiorina in their respective primary races. Even though its possible to understand her endorsement of McCain as an act of personal loyalty, she should have demonstrated an act of higher loyalty to her so-called values and to her country. Her stated reason for endorsing Fiorina is that she’s the only candidate who can defeat Barbara Boxer in the general election. With these choices she has clarified her true position as a big government corporatist – supporting the very faction of the Republican Party that is the source of all the party’s woes and a big cause of why the Tea Party exists in the first place.
For Conservatives who care about the issues and the future of our country the Primary choices in Arizona, California and elsewhere are starkly clear. As Richard Viguerie has eloquently written, the Primaries are the important elections in 2010. If real Conservatives don’t win these Primaries, what difference will it make who wins the general elections in November? Millions of Conservatives will just sit it out like they did in the last presidential election.
Sarah Palin has deserted the barricades for the back-room. Her Conservatism has always been little more than grand-standing at the best of times. When it really matters, in Primary elections, she sides with the big-business-as-usual corporatists. Maybe she knows on which side her bread is buttered. She’s certainly been exceedingly clever at amassing a personal fortune in the last eighteen months. Nobody begrudges her that. But how has any of her easily caricatured personal celebrity helped conservatism in general or conservative candidates in particular?
Meanwhile, thanks to her irresponsible endorsements, and precisely because she does wield so much influence, the rest of us have to work that much harder in Arizona and California, to assure the primary victories of the true conservatives who are the only ones who will make a real difference if and when elected to office.

McConnell and Martin give excuses full of holes
Senator McConnell and Senator Larry Martin have drawn their proverbial line in the sand. They have declared, in writing, that they oppose H3047. Their reasons can be boiled down to three items:
- The Senate already has a rule requiring roll call votes on some items and the Senate does not need to record all their votes because the Senate is “more deliberative” than the House.
- The South Carolina Constitution says that the Senate can make their own rules.
- The South Carolina Constitution already says that the Senate must take a recorded roll call vote when 5 senators ask for one so any additional requirements would be unconstitutional.
These two Senators sound very convincing as they make their arguments. However, rest assured that this is all smoke and mirrors from these two Senators. All they want is for you to stop pressuring them to be transparent! [Read more →]

Why does it take scandal to get reform?
By Barbara S. Williams
Once again it has taken a scandal to force the S.C. Legislature to give the governor’s office a modicum of additional power. Unfortunately, it’s highly unlikely lawmakers will make any further changes this year that would strengthen what arguably is the weakest chief executive in the nation.
What’s more, it’s equally dubious that the Legislature will even allow the voters to make any restructuring decisions despite the fact that pending proposals would only change the way two of the nine constitutional officers are chosen. [Read more →]

Response to Senate opposition to Roll-Call Voting (H3047)
By Talbert Black, Jr. Interim State Coordinator, South Carolina Campaign for Liberty
This is a response to Senator McConnell and Senator Larry Martin. The first few paragraphs are a brief response for those who are not interested in the details. Following that is a more in depth response for those who like to dig a little deeper.

Obama Birth Certificate Issue More Urgent Than Ever
By Joan Swirsky
Now that the regime currently occupying the White House has bribed, threatened, intimidated, bullied, manipulated, and cut unconstitutional and illegal deals with Democrats in exchange for their votes for the totalitarian nightmare of socialized medicine, the subject of Obama’s missing birth certificate is more timely and relevant than ever — precisely because the ugly spectacle emphasized once again the degree to which Obama has arrogantly flouted, sneered at, and spit upon the U.S. Constitution, a document he and his handlers and henchmen clearly revile and are determined to shred and destroy. Bernie Madoff vs. The Government
Courtesy Patriot Post.
Why did Bernie Madoff go to prison? To make it simple, he talked people into investing with him. Trouble was, he didn’t invest their money. As time rolled on, he simply took the money from the new investors to pay off the old investors. Finally there were too many old investors and not enough money from new investors coming in to keep the payments going. Next thing you know Madoff is one of the most hated men in America and he is off to jail.
Some of you know this but not enough of you. Madoff did to his investors what the government has been doing to us for over 60 years with Social Security. There is no meaningful difference between the two schemes except that one was operated by a private individual who is now in jail, and the other is operated by politicians who enjoy perks, privileges and status in spite of their actions.
Do you need a side-by-side comparison? Well here’s a nifty little chart.
| BERNIE MADOFF | SOCIAL SECURITY |
| Takes money from investors with the promise that the money will be invested and made available to them later | Takes money from wage earners with the promise that the money will be invested in a “Trust Fund” and made available later. |
| Instead of investing the money Madoff spends it on nice homes in the Hamptons and yachts. | Instead of depositing money in a Trust Fund the politicians use it for general spending and vote buying. |
| When the time comes to pay the investors back Madoff simply uses some of the new funds from newer investors to pay back the older investors. | When benefits for older investors become due the politicians pay them with money taken from younger and newer wage earners to pay the geezers. |
| When Madoff’s scheme is discovered all hell breaks loose. New investors won’t give him any more cash. | When Social Security runs out of money they simply force the taxpayers to send them some more. |
| Bernie Madoff is in jail. | Politicians remain in Washington. |

Resisting ObamaCare, Gandhi Style
By Shikha Dalmia, posted on 03.24.2010 at Forbes.com
President Barack Obama came into office promising hope and change. But he might get more change than he hoped for. By foisting ObamaCare on a deeply unwilling country he might have set the stage for the largest civil disobedience movement since the civil rights era, which, if it plays its cards right, could undo his legislation and his legacy. Dates that Destroyed America
The Anderson Tea Party does not necessarily endorse the views contained in this article. It is posted only as a history lesson and as food for thought. Please draw your own conclusions.

March 24, 2010
Passage of the so-called “health care reform” bill in the House of Representatives this past Sunday, March 21 (I won’t even address the inferred unconstitutionality of Congress doing business on the Lord’s Day. See Article. I. Section. 7. Paragraph. 2.) drove yet another stake into the heart of America. For all intents and purposes, it is the health of the United States that is in dire need of healing. In fact, the US has been on extended life-support for decades. With its condition being rendered critical, and absent major surgery, its days are numbered. The passage of this bill only serves to further weaken an already frail Constitution. In fact, this one may prove to be the fatal blow. Lady Liberty may never recover.
The decision by Congress to socialize medicine in the US ranks among the most draconian, most egregious, most horrific actions ever taken by the central government in Washington, D.C. This bill rocks the principles of liberty and constitutional government to the core. It changes fundamental foundations; it repudiates historical principle. Oh! The same flag may fly on our flagpoles, the same monuments may grace our landscape, and the same National Anthem may be sung during our public ceremonies, but it is not the same America. The Congress of the United States has now officially turned America into a socialist state.
On March 23, 2010, President Barack Obama signed the health care bill into law, and as such, this date–along with March 21–joins a list of dates that have each inflicted unconstitutional, socialistic, and sometimes even tyrannical action against the States United and have, therefore, contributed to the destruction of a free America.
