Obamacare measure in SC House Ways & Means
Fellow Patriots,
We have to stop Obamacare right here in South Carolina.
HB 3738, the bill titled “The Health Benefit Exchange Act” is the first step that states are mandated to take to implement Obamacare. This bill is scheduled to be heard TOMORROW by the Ways & Means committee.
South Carolina has joined with 27 other states in challenging the constitutionality of Obamacare and we are winning. HB 3738 is NOT a plan B, there cannot be a plan B when we have not exhausted plan A, we must stand firm. Our legislators have been deceived into thinking that we must have HB 3738 in place to avoid the federal government setting up the exchange for SC but this is NOT true, the guidelines for setting up an exchange are so arbitrary that if it is necessary we have years to do so, it does not need to be and should NOT be implemented now.
NOW we must continue our fight, we must educate our state representatives on the dangers of appearing double minded. Rumor has it that HB 3738 is planned to be added to the Ways and Means Committee agenda at the last minute and passed without discussion.
What can we do?
1. Call these state representatives:
Anderson County:
* Rep. Dan Cooper*, chairman of Ways and Means – (803) 734-3144 or (864)260-4025
* Rep. Brian White* – (803) 734-3113
Greenville County:
* Rep. Dwight Loftis* – (803) 734-3101
Laurens County:
* Rep. Mike Pitts* – (803) 734-2830
Aiken County:
* Rep. Roland Smith *- (803) 734-3114
Lexington County:
* Rep. Kenny Bingham* – (803) 734-3138
*Rep. Mac Toole* – (803) 734-2973
*Rep. Chip Huggins* – (803) 734-2971
2. Email. www.scstatehouse.gov click the link to email your representative
3. Visit your state legislator in Columbia TOMORROW at noon. The committee meeting is scheduled to take place an hour and a half after session adjourns, we estimate this to be around 1:30PM. Help with transportation, carpooling opportunities, and/or gas money is available for those willing to volunteer their time.
4. Reach out to at least two other people to call or email these representatives as well.
5. Read about the potential detrimental effects of HB 3738: www.cato.org

Anderson County Entering the Banking Business?
The Anderson County Council Finance Committee is proposing a new “financing program” for small businesses. This sounds perilously close to a local bailout program. Was it not the government’s stepping into the banking industry that pushed America over the edge economically on the Federal level? Doing the same thing over and over again expecting different results is the definition of insanity. Your help is needed. Change, for good or for evil, starts from the ground up.

Concerned Citizens of Oconee Public Zoning Forum
You are invited to become more informed on the zoning issue by coming to a community meeting that is being held by Concerned Citizens of Oconee (CCO).
The guest speaker is Michael Oberndorf of the Freedom 21 Legislative Committee.
Click here for the event time and location.
Learn the real truth behind zoning and how it affects each one of us in Oconee County. You may not feel threatened yet that zoning is coming to your neighborhood, but it will come sooner or later.
- Do you know the meaning of buzz words such as Smart Growth, Sustainable Development, Agenda 21, Comprehensive Land Use Plan, Future Land Use Map, and the Oconee County 2028 Vision Plan?
- Who are the NGOs behind zoning? Are you familiar with the Oconee Alliance, Advocates for Quality Development (AQD), Mountain Lakes Community Association (MLCA), Upstate Forever, and Ten at the Top?
- Where does zoning come from? What’s behind zoning? Who really benefits from zoning?
- Will your property be considered to be “grandfathered” when you sell it? Will you be able to hand it down to your children when you pass away? Or will your property be heavily encumbered by County Government Regulations?

The buses will arrive in DC early Saturday morning the 28th. You will be in DC for about ten hours before catching the bus for the return trip back. At this point, two buses are full and there are 41 seats available on bus three. If you are interested in going, you must get your checks to Randy Simpson by 1:00PM Wednesday (8/25). We must prepay for the third bus. The cost is $70/person…plus you will need cash for two meals and snacks along the way.
Also, there is a blind man in Pickens who needs a ride to and from Boiling Springs. If you can help with this, please let me know.
If we do not get the needed people to fill the third bus, your checks will be returned to you.
