Once Upon A Time

RINO HUNT Newsletter

Once upon a time there was an organization called the Youth Scouts of America.  When they first organized they had lofty goals and worked really hard to accomplish them.  They wanted to prepare young boys and girls for life experiences and help them learn how to deal with difficult problems.  Building fires, tying knots, cooking in the wilderness and setting up tents was some of the things they taught in order for the youth to gain confidence.

Fast forward about a hundred years and let’s see where they are today.  Parents are upset and angry because after ten years, their child can’t build a fire, tie a knot, cook an egg or set up a tent.  In fact, their children are terrified to go into the woods behind the house let alone sleep in the wilderness.

About a year and a half ago a new organization formed called the Youth Survivor Organization.  At first only a few parents allowed their children to attend their meetings.  Little by little the parents began to see their children becoming more and more independent and self assured.  As one parent told another, the Survivor Organization began to grow.

As the new organizations growth became the talk of the town, the Youth Scouts mocked and belittled the new organization.  They said we have been doing this for a hundred years what do these people know.  The new organization didn’t let the negative comments hold them back, they just kept doing what they believed was right, and they continued to grow.  The Youth Scouts didn’t like what they saw and began to sabotage the attempts of the Survivor group.  This didn’t stop them either, they just kept growing.  It wasn’t very long until the Youth Survivor kids were like the television character MacGyver; they could do almost anything with next to nothing.

The Youth Scouts seeing they had lost the trust and respect of the average parent and seeing their membership drop in half in less than two years requested a meeting with the fledgling Survivor groups Founder.  At the start of the meeting they acknowledged the success of the Survivor group.  In fact, they even told him that he had built a strong and powerful organization.

They informed him that they admired what he had created and said that their goals were the same.  They offered to help the Founder improve his organization and reach their collective goals of training the youth.  They said we already own the campgrounds and we already have the tents and camping gear.  We already have the infrastructure and experience to make you successful.  Besides, as soon as the newness wears off the parents will start sending their children back to the Youth Scouts and you will lose most of the kids anyway.  The best thing you could do is join with us and let us show you how it’s done.  We are the professionals.

The Founder thanked them for their offer but declined.  They didn’t like this at all.  They pondered how they could keep their organization from going under with the new organization gaining such trust.  Then a thought came to mind, what if we changed our name to Youth Survivor Scouts of America.  It sounds a lot like the new group and the people will not notice the difference.  It will not matter that the kids still can’t tie a knot as long as they keep sending the kids to our camp.

Now in real life we find ourselves in a similar position, but the stakes are much greater.  In real life we have the Republican Party and the Tea Party movement.  Many years ago the Republican Party could tie knots and start a campfire.  Now they are wet because they can’t set up a tent and starving in the wilderness.  They have lost their way and have no compass to guide them.  The Tea Party movement is like the Founder of the Youth Survivor Organization.  Realizing that there was no organization to instill confidence in children he started his own organization and delivered what was needed.  People are desperately looking for real leadership in returning to traditional values and Constitutional government.

Although at different speeds, both the Democrat and Republican Party have led us towards socialism.  They have shown no true desire to return to the Constitutional limitations on government.  Neither Party wants to let go of the power that they have held for so long.  Simply look at the candidates that the Republican Party has offered since Ronald Reagan left office.  In fact, they didn’t like him either.

Now that they see ordinary Americans coming together and voicing their demands for a return to the Constitution, they realize they are losing power and want to take control of the Tea Party movement.  After all, they are the professionals and we are the sheeple.   Keep in mind that both political Parties are private clubs.  That’s right, private clubs.  They are not part of our government.  So what we have is one private club trying to force a merger with another private club.  People are fed up with the status quo and want freedom and liberty for their children and grandchildren.  I hope and pray the people will chose freedom and liberty to give their children instead of a private club membership.  What is more important to you?

I’ve been told if you’re not taking flack, you’re not over the target.  Well, we must have hit a nerve because we are taking flack and lots of it.  The Tea Party movement was invited into the Republican Party; we said thanks but no thanks.  We said we want to remain independent but will work to support real conservatives and help to bring the Republican Party back to its rightful place as an example of conservatism.  Their response seems to resemble Chicago style politics by saying we will do this with you or without you, but we will be using your reputation when we do it.

What we have here is not a failure to communicate; it is a failure to accept our response.  We understand there are many true conservative incumbents and true conservatives inside the Republican Party.  These people are not our enemies but our allies.  We are not working against the Party but against the “Progressive Liberals” within the Party.

Several people have said we can be more productive if we are on the inside.  I disagree.  If I were a frog and my friends were in a pot of boiling water I would be of better use if I stayed on the outside and turned the heat off.  Jumping inside and trying to help them get out would do neither of us any good.  I have to question the motivation behind this attempt to gain the reputation associated with the Tea Party movement.  This is the same movement that supported a Republican candidate for Governor in Virginia and New Jersey and a U.S. Senate race in Massachusetts.  So, are we a threat to the Party or to the Progressives inside it?  Is this a request for our support or an ultimatum?

If the Republican Party wants our help and support to get conservative candidates elected they already have it.  If it is an attempt to hijack our movement they will find their worst nightmare come to life.  The choice is theirs.  At this point, it appears that they simply want to protect the good ole boy status quo that has given us the mess that we are in right now.  As Aaron Tippin would say, “you’ve got to stand for something or you’ll fall for anything”.  I sincerely hope they will hear our collective voices and respect our desire to stay independent as an organization.
