Desperate or Just Stupid? The Coakley Camp is Being Run By 3rd Graders!
Cross-posted from 73wire.com. Article by Steven Foley.
I’m not sure I’m witnessing what I’m witnessing? I mean, I planned to take a trip to Boston to bare witness to an historically close race… wherein the Republican up-start actually had a chance of coming within 9 or 10 points of the already anointed successor to Ted Kennedy’s Senate seat.
Then came the break between Christmas and New Years… the Scott Brown campaign ran an ad in which the late, great, John F, Kennedy transformed into Scott Brown while talking about taxes and jobs…
Can you say “Game Changer?” in my opinion that ad was a huge game changer and the beginning of the momentum shift…
After the JFK ad — suddenly Martha Coakley had to start campaigning… and that, it turns out, was her greatest downfall!
Martha Coakley is a horrible candidate, and a much worse campaigner, as it turns out… the level of debate she’s shown, so far, is simply to call her opponent names, make over the top assertions, and flat out lie and distort Scott Browns record.
What struck me upon arriving here in Bean-`town was the level of awareness and the outright disdain for the status-quo (I can haz Kennedy’s seat) BS-Democrat politician that thought she could walk into the Senate seat without knowing that terrorists were still in Afghanistan!
The people on the street are jut not having it!
The folks I’ve met over the last couple of days keep telling me that this is historic, not in the Obama – everything has a historic pressing ring to it, but most of these people have never had the chance to vote their conscious for this seat – as they felt they owed their vote to a legacy… I don’t agree with that — but I understand it.
With the death of Teddy Kennedy, came a new day and a new dawn for which many here in Mass. say “is an opportunity to let our voices be heard” and being heard is exactly what their voices are…
Yesterday I attended a Scott Brown scheduled stop at a bar called Tommy Doyle”s down in Cape Cod. The place was packed and hour and a half before the scheduled speech, you should have seen the tears in people’s eyes… older generations looking out at all the young people in the bar/restaurant with a passionate mission I’ve never encountered in my short lifetime.
It was never more obvious to me, in the moment, how much I loved my country and how much my fellow countrymen loved liberty and freedom.
I know it sounds sappy… but shaking an old mans hand and having him tell you that as a Californian you can appreciate but never fully understand the magnitude of what was happening in his own backyard… was an experience I will keep with me until the day I die.
By the way — they were all Democrats! Well Ok there were a few die hard Republicans but on the Cape… they’re a rare species.
Which now brings me to this ridiculous story, that up until a few weeks ago I would have said was pure fantasy, but here we are:
In an article, well a blog post (let’s be real about it) entitled “Coakley: Scott Brown doesn’t pay for health care for workers” Martha Coakley once again beclownes herself with the following statements:
“We already knew that Scott Brown didn’t want to make health insurance more affordable for Massachusetts families and businesses. Now we learn that he won’t even make health insurance available for his own staff. If he won’t stand up for the people he employs, how could we ever trust him to stand up for us?”
Wow really you mean the temporary staff that at present is kicking your rear? That’s a great talking point Martha… Good luck with that.
It continues with Brown staffer Felix Browne stating the obvious, again for the Coakley camp:
“This is a silly issue. The small group working on the Scott Brown campaign either has existing insurance or were compensated sufficiently to purchase it on their own,”
Seeing a campaign in this kind of disarray really gives hope to those of us who would love to see Scott Brown take the seat.
No one knows what the outcome will be, but one thing is devastatingly clear… The fact that a Republican is this close, to what have otherwise been a walk in the park, is an absolute referendum — not only on the Democrats ability to lead but also the agenda set forth by the Failed Obama White House!
